on michael lynch

Michael Lynch is  Chief Executive Officer of the Oldcastle Distribution Group, which does business primarily
as Allied Building Products (“Allied”). Allied is ranked #3 in the US in two specialist distribution sectors: roofing/
siding and interior products (drywall and related). As of January 1,2007, Allied had 180 locations in 29 states
and 4000 employees. Michael joined the CRH group in Dublin in 1971, the first full year of CRH’s existence. In
the 1970s he was a member of the CRH Finance team and was based for a time in Holland in the early days
of CRH’s operations in continental Europe. Michael was involved in CRH’s early efforts to become established
in the US and moved to the US in advance of Oldcastle’s first US acquisition in 1978. From 1978 until 1994,
Michael served as Oldcastle’s CFO. In 1994 he headed the development team to find a new Product Group for
Oldcastle, which culminated with the acquisition of Allied in 1996. In its day the Allied acquisition was the largest
CRH had ever completed. Since 1996 Michael has been responsible for this Product Group, which has grown from sales of $440 million in 1995 to over $1.8 billion in 2006.  Michael’s primary degree is in business studies from
University College Dublin (1968); he is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (1972) and
completed the Program for Management Development at the Harvard Business School (1982).
